A baby lion named Baby Lion has been named after his parents, a mother who gave birth to the young cub while a baby in her arms.
The newborn was taken in by its adoptive parents, Santa Baby Lion and Baby Lion Mom.
“I was really happy and excited to have a baby that we can all enjoy, but I’m also very happy because I was able to see my son grow and develop,” said Baby Lion’s mother, Santa.
The parents were the first people to meet Baby Lion in the wild.
“My son was born on a sunny day in February, so I was just looking forward to it,” said the mother.
“And he was happy, he was healthy, he could run around.”
Baby Lion was adopted by the couple from an orphanage in the city of Toulouse.
He was born weighing less than a pound.
The family’s adoption has been funded by the French Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.
“It is a huge honor for us,” said Ms Ochoa.
“Baby Lion was born at the French Embassy, but he was also adopted by a baby girl and she adopted him as her own child.”
