By the time he was born, Michael Phelps was the biggest star in the world.
He was the gold medal winner at the 2010 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
He won a record eight medals.
He has been the most successful Olympian of all time.
And yet, Phelps is no longer the most famous Olympian.
He is now the most sought-after celebrity.
A little more than a year ago, he was featured in an ad for a new product that, like many new products, was conceived of by a guy named Josh Liddell.
In this case, he wanted to promote his new line of baby platys.
Liddel, who has a PhD in psychology and is the cofounder of Liddie, an online baby-care company, has an eye for detail.
“I want people to feel like they’re not the only one having an awesome time,” he says.
Lydell, who grew up in Los Angeles, has been working as a marketing manager for a few years now.
When he wasn’t on the road selling his company, he spent a lot of time traveling.
Laredo, Texas, is where he got his first taste of fame.
“At the time, I was living in New York City and was hanging out with my girlfriend in Laredoe,” Lydel says.
“And we were just talking about my new product.
And then she kind of dropped the ball.

Laedell thought of the idea of babies being fed by their mothers.
So he asked his mom for the first baby.
“It’s like a baby shower, right?” he says, grinning.

And when the company grew to 2,000 customers, he figured he’d be able to get them to share a photo of their babies with the company. “
We started with one baby,” Liddelle says.

They shared photos with his company and got a few hundred customers.
But Liddella says the company is doing even better now.
“Our customers are getting pictures of their baby with the baby in a hat,” Liedell says.
He also says that, over the past few months, Liddels customers have sent in requests to his company for other products.
He says his business is growing and his company has expanded into a chain of baby-related businesses.
“The company has grown by about 10 to 15 percent a year, and the company’s just growing, and we’ve been able to make it all happen,” he said.
But even with all the growth, Lydella says he’s not quite sure what he will do with his business.
He said he’s considering retirement, but he’s still not sure how much he’ll be able keep up with all of his work.
Lidly’s mom, Lillia, says she was so thrilled to see her daughter’s business grow.
She says she didn’t think it would be so successful, but she’s glad she did.
“They’ve just gotten to the point where they’re going to be the biggest brand in the universe,” she says.
In the beginning, she says, it was hard to keep up.
“There was no social media,” she said.
“Nobody really knew what was going on, so it was just a very lonely time.”
And while she’s happy with how it’s turned out, Lidell says that the biggest challenge for him has been finding the right time for his company to grow.
“Now that it’s grown so much, I think I’m just getting to a point where it’s just time for me to just get away from all of the stuff,” he explains.
Ludell says he thinks the future of Lidley’s company will be very similar to that of his father.
“His mom was so proud of him growing up and wanted him to succeed,” he admits.
“So now I just want him to do that for me.”
